The yoga marketplace offers a wide variety of styles. Choices vary from fast and athletic to slow and gentle. The element common to all yoga styles is the potential to develop and transform both mind and body. The Art of Breathing is not really another item on the yoga menu. It is the fundamental principle that lies within all approaches to the timeless science of physical development and deep inner transformation. Art of Breathing is the yoga inside of yoga.
The potential for development and transformation is rooted in the yogic tradition of focused concentration. By regulating your breathing, and extending the internal movement outward to your limbs, you will become progressively more attentive to your unique structure and patterns of movement. This leads to the heart of yoga practice: discriminative awareness, then the fluid form of your practice will take shape from the inside out.
The basic premise of Viniyoga is the breath moves the body and the breath is the primary source of power. In session 1 the emphasis will be on backward bending; session 2 on forward bending; session 3 on lateral bending; and session 4 on twisting.
The workshop will be suitable for everybody. You are encouraged to take all four classes, but you are free to take as many or as few as you wish.
