Karma Class to Benefit:
National Multiple Sclerosis Society
Join us the last Sunday of every month from 4pm-5pm for this donation only practice with Sandy Raper. ($5 donation suggested.) Don't miss this chance to make a difference.
Multiple Sclerosis is a chronic often disabling disease
that attacks the central nervous system – made up of the brain, spinal cord and optic nerves. MS is a progressive disease for which no cure has yet been found. In the US today there are approximately 400,000 people living with MS with 200
more diagnosed every week. Worldwide MS is thought to affect more than 2.1 million people. Although there are treatments to manage the disease’s course, they are only partially effective, which means that some people’s MS will worsen in spite of everything they and their doctors do to try and prevent it. The National MS Society is a driving force of MS Research that seeks to find a cure for this disease.
Sandy is very passionate about the research for a cure for MS. At the age of 26, Sandy’s mother, Iris, was diagnosed with this disease that forever changed her life and her family’s life. Sandy was 2 years old at that time and an only child. Due to the uncertainty of the disease Iris never had any other children. On August 18, 2002, Iris passed away at the age of 54 from complications and infections brought on by 28 years of battling this disabling disease. Sandy and her father were Iris’ primary caregivers for the last 5 years of her life.
Please join Sandy on August 29th as she guides a vinyasa flow class to pay honor to those Fearless Warriors who are battling the disease of MS daily and in memory of Iris who lived a life of faith, determination and embodied grace and beauty through the life she lived.
Should you not be able to attend but would like to make a tax-deductible donation to the National MS Society please go to www.nationalmssociety.org where you can contribute online.
Together, we can make a difference.
Karma class offered on the last Sunday of every month from 4pm-5pm.
